The round-up of Millburn Soccer Club action for May 1-2:
A hat trick by Sara Salter and solo goal by Izzie Kam off a Gwyn Haertel pass resulted in 4-1 win by the Millburn Soccer Club Eclipse U14 Girls over the Hillsborough Sparks on Saturday. Emily Cross and Katie Fitzgerald split time in goal and Nora Cunningham excelled at midfield for the Eclipse.
The U9 Millburn Heat went 2-0 on Saturday at the Lincoln Park Spring Soccer Classic. They took down the North Caldwell Red Bulls 5-2 in the first game. Zane Solender tallied three goals. Ben Utz and Christian Clark also scored, and Ramsey Little notched two assists. Connor Klein was outstanding on defense.

The Heat also won their second game against the Fort Lee All-Pro's 3-0. Jack Meselsohn started off the scoring early in the first half. Ben Utz added two goals. Zach Butter and Sam Meyerowitz provided superior all-around play on the field and Joe Simon was strong in goal.
The Millburn Torpedoes defeated the South Plainfield Sharks 4-2. Kyle Jacobs scored three times for the Torpedoes and added an assist on the Torpedoes' fourth goal by Ryan Koplitz. Max Comito and P.J. Powar added assists for the Torpedoes.

The Millburn Soccer Club's Flash earned a 2-2 draw against the Somerset Hills Lightning. Melissa Gates scored the Flash's first goal on an assist from Gioia Basile. Emma Hou scored the Flash's second goal. The team combined for 17 shots and Emily Mester and Karoline Policarpio had a total of 10 saves in goal.
The U-11 Millburn Pythons defeated the Ironbound Warriors, 3-1. Drew Cohn led off the scoring for the Pythons with an assist from Christiano Hocken. Hocken then scored a second goal off a pass from Spencer Schneider. Schneider and Matthew Brenner assisted on Hocken's third goal for the Pythons. Stellar play from defender Andrew Karp and keepers Perry Schwartz and Justin Ehly blocked all shots from the Ironbound team, except a penalty kick.
The Millburn Blaze played a closely contested match against the Branchburg Crossfire and dueled to a 1-1 tie. Thomas Barraque scored the Millburn goal unassisted. Tyler Bernard starred in goal. Brandon Krikorian and Spencer Solit excelled for the defense.
On Sunday, the Millburn Braves (U10) beat the Tewksbury Wildcats 4-0 in Tewksbury. Jake Patterson had one goal and two assists for the Braves, Ross Gang scored two goals for the Braves and Josh Feinberg scored one. Adam Schwartz kept the Wildcats scoreless as goalie and was helped on defense by Ryan Wenslau, Mark Nagpal and Neel Sambamurthy.
The Millburn U8 Rockets defeated the Scotch Plains Fire 2-0 on a strong defensive effort by Reid Fitzsimons, Cole Freeman, Henry Graff and Abhay Pant. Ben Chrzanowski was a standout in the goal. Jason Stollo and Alex Migoya scored for Millburn and Griffin Schwartz added an assist.
Libby McGraw scored for the Millburn Galaxy in a 1-1 duel with the Westfield Crystal Palace. Emma Finkel, Erin Zuck and Caroline Levine paced the Galaxy offense, and Sarah Kessler, Brighid Kirkwood and keeper Claire Denson played stellar defense, keeping the Crystal Palace scoreless for most of the game.
The Millburn U-9 Inferno were edged 3-2 by the Watchung Hills Survivors. Jared Simons and Nicholas Visceglia scored for the Inferno. Xander Zingale showed a stellar performance at forward and Ethan Ostroff starred as keeper.
The Flash defeated the East Brunswick Storm, 4-1. Melissa Gates scored a goal and had two assists, Anna Nesser and Grace Mayo both had a goal and an assist, and Gioia Basile added a goal. Emma Hou, Randi Little and Kerri Driscoll led an outstanding defensive effort.
Defenders Paige Sollender and Hazel Solender turned in superb performances in the Millburn Crusaders 3-0 loss to the Spotswood Lightning. Midflielder Alexa Jentis also starred for the Crusaders.
The Millburn Barracudas lost 3-2 to the North Hunterdon River Plates. Dominant most of the game, the Barracudas outplayed their opponents and fought to the end. Offensively, Chloe Zegas and Devon Thomas put the Barracudas on the board with one goal each. Defensively, Aubrey Wright and Emma Capanna helped fight off the River Plates. Although the Barracudas left with a loss, they played their best game to date.
The Millburn Spirit played Woodbridge Chelsea in a grueling game with the end score being 1-0 Woodbridge Chelsea. Both teams played well, with Chelsea scoring their only goal with four minutes left in the game. Some players that played very well on Millburn were Samantha Grossman, Kelsea Brown, Alexa Lieberman and Faith Belcoure. Even though Millburn lost, their goalie Samantha Pancer played great, only letting in one goal of many shots.
Christiano Hocken's lone goal for the Pythons propelled the team to a 1-0 victory over the Ft. Lee Juventus. Forwards Kyle Mangold, Sebastian Vazquez and Eric Silverstein pounded shots on goal while defenders Gabe Nadel, Richie Schiekofer, Justin Wang and Logan Schneider blocked Fort Lee's attempts to get close to the goal.
Ava Belcuore scored the lone goal for the Millburn Hornets in a hard fought 3-1 loss at Bridgewater Parma. Samantha Goldman and Sarah Rovit provided excellent support in the midfield for the Hornets who lost only their first game of the season.
Allison DeMeo scored off a pass from Hannah Barr in the Millburn Cyclones' 3-1 loss to the Readington Storm. Despite the losing effort, Keeper Mary Pagano turned in an impressive performance, making several stellar saves.
The Sting lost a tough 3-2 decision to the Berkely Heights Blaze. Meg Damstrom scored both goals, one on a header from a corner kick from Erin Blank.
The Blaze lost to the South Brunswick Force4-1. Ethan Lenner scored for the Blaze with an assist from Thomas Barraque. Joe Cicenia and Zach Graves were very strong for the defense in the losing effort.
Tornadoes overcame the unseasonal heat on Sunday afternoon to register a 3-0 win over Westfied Bordeaux. After a scoreless first half, the deadlock was broken five minutes after the interval when Mica MacInnes evaded two challenges to score from the edge of the box after good approach work from Deirdre Cunningham. A second soon followed when Lauren Weissman created space for Lizzie Twombly to run on and score. Daniella Petrocelli's speed enable her to beat the Bordeaux defence to add a third with Ally Langendorff providing the assist.
The Millburn Jaguars were defeated by the East Brunswick Ravens 6-0. Stars for the Jaguars were Lauren Alexander and Caroline Weinrauch.
The Millburn Titans received help from all areas of the team in order to notch a 7-4 victory over Clark. Scoring for the Titans were Reese Little, Nick Maldonado, Ben Kessler, Matt Jordan, Ben Bograd, Ben Pampush and Matthew Bernstein. Johnny Wang starred on defense for the Titans.
