Millburn In ‘State Of Emergency’ Due To Snowstorm Forecast

Millburn is under a "state of emergency" as the township battens down in the face of a serious snowstorm forecast.

MILLBURN, NJ — Millburn is battening down in the face of a snowstorm forecast that led Governor Phil Murphy to declare a state of emergency in New Jersey.

The Township of Millburn declared a state of emergency effective as of 6 a.m. on Wednesday, March 7. Officials said that residents should not park on any municipal street starting at 6 a.m. In addition, Essex County will declare a state of emergency as of 12:01 a.m. on Wednesday, March 7. Residents should not park on any county roadway, Millburn officials said.

The Millburn Town Hall was closed Wednesday due to the anticipated storm conditions.

  • The Department of Public Works has been brining Township roadways, and checked rivers and streams following last week’s storm for brush. Our private waste hauler, Giordano, is bringing in extra trucks to try and complete their regularly-scheduled trash and recycling collections tomorrow morning.
  • Trash and recycling collections will start at 5am. Please put cans out tonight in anticipation of early pickup, if your zone is scheduled for pickup tomorrow.
  • Avoid downed wires, as it should be assumed they are live.

  • The Millburn Library will be closed on Wed 3/7/2018 due to the impending storm. All programs, meetings and events on Wed 3/7 are cancelled. The Library will re-open on Thurs 3/8 at 9:30 a.m. conditions permitting.
