Newark Academy’s Big Band “Chameleon” Named Division III Winner in the New Jersey Association for Jazz Education State Finals
For the eighth consecutive year, NA's Chameleon named the Division III winner in the New Jersey Association for Jazz Education State Finals

Newark Academy's select big band "Chameleon" was chosen as the division III winner in the New Jersey Association for Jazz Education (NJAJE) State Finals on April 22 for the eighth consecutive year. Chameleon was also awarded best sight reading, trumpet section and two band members received soloist awards.
Chameleon was chosen as one of the 15 finalists to perform live at the Essentially Ellington High School Jazz Band Competition & Festival, which will be held May 11-13, 2017 at Lincoln Center. The school will be making its third appearance at Essentially Ellington, under the direction of educator and saxophonist, Julius Tolentino.
