Police Investigating Possible Link to Anti-Semitic Notes

A man arrested in New York may be linked to a note stating "Kill Jews" left in Millburn.

Millburn detectives are working with New York police to see if there is a connection in an arrest for anti-Semitic notes left in various places there.

The New York Police Hate Crimes Unit made the arrest last week for slips of paper left stating "Kill Jews." Millburn police investigating if there is a link, but officials are not ready to make an official connection a 2009 incident in the township, said Police Capt. James Miller, public information officer. "We're aware (of the arrest), but we're not prepared to say (the incidents) are linked," he said. Similar incidents also were reported in Chatham and Summit.

The Millburn incident was reported on Aug. 5, 2009 when a resident reported a single slip of paper that was left on the ground at the corner of Millburn Avenue and Rawley Place. The slip of paper said "Kill Jews." Miller said officers checked the area, but no other slips were found and no one was located who could have connection to leaving it.

It was two months ago when Millburn investigators learned of the incidents in Chatham and Summit that could be connected, he said. Chatham township police said Monday the incidents there could be related.
