Short Hills Student Qualifies For Robotics World Championship

Arnav Sharma, a 5th grader at the Deerfield School in Short Hills, recently qualified for the Vex Robotics World's Championship.

SHORT HILLS, NJ — Arnav Sharma, a 5th grader at the Deerfield School in Short Hills, recently qualified for the Vex Robotics World's Championship to be held in Kentucky Exposition Center, Louisville, KY in April.

According to a news release, Sharma and his teammate won the semi-finals and finals after competing against several elementary school teams in New Jersey.

The VEX IQ Challenge, presented by the Robotics Education & Competition Foundation, provides elementary and middle school students with exciting, open-ended robotics and research project challenges that enhance their science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) skills through hands-on, student-centered learning.

According to a release, the VEX IQ Challenge “fosters student development of the teamwork, critical thinking, project management, and communication skills required to prepare them to become the next generation of innovators and problem solvers.”
