Water Tower Leak Reported on Hartshorn

Also, arson investigators are looking into a series of garbage can fires.

Firefighters investigated and water company workers fixed a leak at the water tower on Hartshorn Drive on Wednesday.

A resident on Hartshorn Drive in the vicinity reported a leak at the water tower at about 7:15 p.m. Firefighters found a large amount of water coming from a pipe on the side of the tower, according to a Millburn Fire Department report.

They called a New Jersey American Water Company supervisor, who then called a crew to respond to fix the problem. Firefighters were on scene for about 45 minutes before turning the scene over to the water company for repairs.

Police Investigating Garbage Can Fires

Millburn detectives are working with fire investigators on a series of garbage can fires on Main Street that have been deemed suspicious.

The fires were reported just before 10 p.m. on July 2, and there were three garbage cans on fire in the vicinity of 200 Main Street, according to Police Capt. James Miller, public information officer. The homeowners and neighbors had two fires extinguished before firefighters arrived. Two of the cans were melted, and the third was partially melted.
