Flooding Closes Millburn-Short Hills Roads
Heavy rains caused flooding on JFK Parkway and Brookside Drive.
Wednesday's heavy rains caused flooding on several roads and forced John F. Kennedy Parkway and Brookside Drive to be closed.
Police said JFK Parkway was closed in both directions in the early morning, but the southbound lanes had been re-opened. The northbound lanes remained closed from Canoe Brook Road to the Livingston border. There northbound lanes were flooded near the township golf course.
Essex County sheriffs closed Brookside Drive through South Mountain Reservation from Glen Avenue to South Orange Avenue due to flooding.

Millburn police said there was a flooding problem on South Orange Avenue near Temple B'Nai Jeshurun, but a drain was cleared to fix the problems.
Downtown, water had risen to the edges of the pond in Taylor Park. It had not spilled over the edges. The West Branch of the Rahway River moved swiftly through the center of town.

The National Weather Service issued a flood advisory that expired at 10:30 a.m. because of the heavy rains. Nearly two inches of rain fell in the Millburn-Short Hills area before 11:30 a.m.
The National Weather Services has also issued a wind advisory is in effect from 8 p.m. on Wednesday until 6 a.m. on Thursday. Winds are expected to be 25-30 miles per hour with gusts of 45-50 miles per hour, according to the weather advisory. The strongest winds are expected between 10 p.m. and 4 a.m.
