2 Burglaries In Montclair; 18 Tires Stolen From Auto Business: Police

Employees of Firestone Complete Auto Care reported a burglary to their business. Here's what happened, Montclair police said.

MONTCLAIR, NJ — Two burglaries were recently reported in Montclair, authorities announced Tuesday.

The Montclair Police Department released the following details about each incident:

January 7 (Bloomfield Avenue) – “Employees of Firestone Complete Auto Care reported a burglary to their business. They reported that they arrived at the business at 6:15 a.m. and discovered the rear door to the business was open. During a tire transfer later in the day, they discovered approximately 18 tires missing from the business. Upon checking the surveillance, they discovered a white Ford van occupied by two males pulled into the business after hours. It appears that entry into the business was through a hatch on the roof.”

January 13 (Midland Avenue) – “The building superintendent reported that a burglary occurred between January 10 and January 13. Entry appears to have been gained through a first-floor rear window that was left unlocked. At the time of the report, there were no reported proceeds.”
