2 Home Burglary Attempts Reported On Same Day In Montclair: Police
Someone tried to enter a Montclair home through a back door. Another resident reported a home invasion attempt on the same day, police said.
MONTCLAIR, NJ — Two separate home burglary attempts were recently reported in Montclair on the same day, police announced Tuesday.
According to the Montclair Police Department, the following incidents were reported in the township:
Jan. 31 (North Mountain Avenue) – “A resident reported that a 2:27 a.m., an unknown person attempted to gain entry into his residence through a rear door. The suspect was unsuccessful and fled northbound through the rear yards. He was described as a male wearing a hooded sweatshirt, sweatpants, sneakers, full face mask with a mouth opening, and what appeared to be a sock in his hand.”

Jan. 31 (Clinton Avenue) – “Officers responded to a Clinton Avenue residence on a report of a suspicious male in a hooded sweatshirt in the rear yard. The male was attempting to open the rear sun porch door, but was unsuccessful. Officers checking the area located a male matching the description on Wayside Place. The male fled into the rear yards on Wayside Place. He was last seen in the area of Sutherland Road and Harrison Avenue.”
