2 Home Invasions Reported In Montclair On Same Day: Police

MPD: A man was in his living room and heard a noise coming from the kitchen. A stranger was caught on video trying to enter a woman's home.

MONTCLAIR, NJ — Two home invasions were recently reported on the same night in Montclair, police announced Monday.

The Montclair Police Department released the following details about the incidents, which took place Friday.

HARRISON AVENUE – A resident reported that he was in his living room, when he heard a noise coming from his kitchen. When he entered the kitchen to investigate, he saw an unknown man standing by his rear door. The resident yelled at the man, who immediately fled through the rear door. The resident chased after him, but he lost sight of the man in Porter Park. The suspect was described as man with a “stocky build,” from 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 11 inches, wearing a gray-hooded sweatshirt with the hood up, light-colored pants, light blue jeans and white sneakers. The suspect removed about $200 from the victim’s wallet.

CHRISTOPHER STREET – A resident reported that she was reviewing her home surveillance, when she saw an unknown man attempt to enter her home several hours earlier. Surveillance footage shows the man attempting to open a glass sliding door, which was locked. The suspect then proceeds through a gate out of the camera’s view. He was described as a “thin-built” man, wearing dark pants and possibly a grey-hooded sweatshirt over his head and a mask.
