3 Break-In Attempts Reported In Montclair: Police

MONTCLAIR , NJ — A pair of Montclair residents and the super at an apartment complex reported break-in attempts last week, authorities announced Tuesday.

According to the Montclair Police Department, the following incidents were recently reported in the township:

July 13 (Valley Road) – A Valley Road resident reported that he returned home from work and discovered the side door to his residence had been forcefully kicked in. The incident reportedly occurred between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. The door was destroyed but nothing was reported missing by the homeowner.

July 14 (Bloomfield Avenue) – The resident reported that he left his apartment at 6:30 p.m. and returned at 9 a.m. the following day. Upon his arrival home, he discovered his apartment door was broken and pushed in. Entry does not appear to have been successful and nothing was reported missing.

July 16 (Bloomfield Avenue) – The super for The Vestry reported that two men vandalized the garage door to the complex and appeared to attempt entry. Surveillance video shows two men in the parking lot. One man approaches the closed garage door and pushes a panel out of the housing. Both suspects then approach the garage door and remove a second panel. The men can be seen sticking their heads, arms and shoulders into the new opening in an attempt to climb in, but are unsuccessful and leave the area, police said.
