3 ‘Criminal Mischief’ Incidents Reported In Montclair: Police

Montclair Police: A parking officer's tires were slashed. A group of teens vandalized a building; another building was spray painted.

MONTCLAIR, NJ — Several instances of “criminal mischief” were reported last week in Montclair, authorities said Tuesday.

According to the Montclair Police Department, the following incidents were reported in the township.

  • March 29 - (Glenridge Avenue) The general contractor for a building under construction on Glenridge Avenue reported that a unit on the top floor of the building had its walls and floors spray painted. The suspects reportedly climbed a fence to gain access to the property.
  • April 4 - (Upper Montclair Plaza) The building manager reported that several juveniles made entry into the building on Saturday evening between 8 and 10 p.m. The walls were sprayed with an unknown liquid and a basket was torn off a door. Surveillance video shows the suspects to be seven males in their teens.
  • April 4 (Valley Road) - A Montclair parking enforcement officer reported that she parked her township vehicle in the lot of Quick Check and entered the store to make a purchase. When she returned 10 minutes later, she discovered three of the tires on her vehicle had been slashed.
