Montclair Run to Benefit Local Scholarship Programs

32nd annual run will be held on Sunday, June 1.

A fun family day to help benefit the community, the YMCA Of Montclair and the Township of Montclair’s Department of Recreation & Cultural Affairs 32nd Montclair Run on Sunday, June 1 will feature a 2 mile fun run/walk and a 10K (6.2 mile) road race. Other events include a health fair, sports massages, a DJ spinning tunes, games for kids and a moonwalk.

Both organizations have been dedicated to helping the community improve their health and wellness. The Montclair Run is a great way for serious runners and families to kick off the start of the summer. More than 1,400 runners, walkers, volunteers and spectators of all ages from across Essex County and beyond are expected to participate.

"This is so much more than a road race," said YMCA of Montclair CEO Jo Ann Short. "It's about raising money for scholarships so that everyone in our community can lead healthy and active lives."

"Last year, we raised over $18,500 and we're looking to build on that, said said Pat Brechka, the Township of Montclair’s Director of Recreational & Cultural Affairs, who co-directs the race with Carol Kearney, Program Coordinator for the YMCA of Montclair.

This year’s honorary race starter is Paul Maloney, President of the Essex County Running Club. The Club is celebrating their 30th anniversary.
