MONTCLAIR, NJ — From pumpkin patches to a historic walking tour, there are plenty of things to do this fall in the Montclair area.

The changing colors of autumn provide a scenic background for a smorgasbord of fall activities, from leaf-peeping to pumpkin carving to seasonal parades. PUMPKIN PATCH – Come to St. Luke’s Episcopal Church for the “Most Sincere Pumpkin Patch around.” They will be open through Oct. 31. Learn more here.

SCARY STORIES BY CANDLELIGHT – Spooky ghosts, unsolved murders, creepy cryptids, gruesome deaths — are you afraid of the dark? Guests will travel back in time using the Crane House & Historic YWCA as their guide as we explore ghastly tales from Montclair’s history on this candlelight tour. HISTORIC WALKING TOUR – Before Anderson Park existed, three houses and a fire station sat on the park property. Find out where they went and other surprising stories about how this Olmsted-designed Essex County park came to be created over a century ago, how it shaped Upper Montclair, and how it led to the formation of other Montclair parks. COOKIE DECORATING – Celebrate Halloween by learning how to decorate cookies. In this online class your instructor will teach you the basics of cookie decorating using frosting, piping bags, piping tips, and sprinkles.
