African American Read-In at Montclair Public Library

Montclair Public Library will host an African American Read-In on February 18 to celebrate African American authors for Black History Month.

We invite everyone to celebrate African American authors by participating in an African American Read-In! Choose your favorite passage from a book, poem, or speech by an African American and sign up for a two-minute time slot to read your chosen piece aloud. Join us as we come together to read, hear, and shine a spotlight on African American literature.

Please email reference@montclair.bccls.org to sign up and submit your reading. To attend without reading a passage, please register at montclairlibrary.org/blackhistorymonth or call 973-744-0500 ext. 2235.

About the African American Read-In:Sponsored by the Black Caucus of the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) and NCTE, and endorsed by the International Literacy Association, the goal of the AARI is to document readers making the celebration of African American literacy a traditional part of Black History Month activities.
