“I’d like to go to events at Montclair State but parking is so difficult ... It’s hard to find my way around campus ... It’s a long walk from the parking deck to buildings.” If these are thoughts that you've had about our local university campus, come to AIM's monthly Saturday Social on Saturday, July 25 at 2 p.m., when guest speaker, Ashley Ermer, will be speaking about what Montclair State University is doing to address campus accessibility for older residents of the Montclair area.

Ermer is an assistant professor in the Department of Family Science and Human Development at Montclair State. She will be presenting results of a project on campus accessibility for older adults which her undergraduate students during the spring semester helped with. In addition to finding out what the students learned about this important topic, you will have a chance to share your experiences and concerns about accessing the MSU campus.

Ermer earned her PhD from the University of Missouri in 2017. Her research relates to social relationships, particularly romantic relationships and friendships. She has examined the interplay of older adults’ social relationships and well-being as well as forgiveness in the context of health and social relationships. Her undergraduate courses often include a community-based component, and for several years, AIM has been collaborating with her to bring an intergenerational dialogue to her Aging and Social Policy class.

To attend this program, email AIM at aginginmontclairaim@gmail.com by Thursday, July 23. You will receive a zoom link to the Saturday program.
