Items Must Go! Deals At Montclair Beadworks

The popular Church Street shop isn't closing until later this month in an effort to get rid of its inventory

Montclair Beadworks, which was supposed to close last month, will stay open through Jan. 29 in an effort to get rid of all remaining inventory.

"We still have thousands of wonderful beads that need a good home," said owner Mary Ann Cucci.

In November, Cucci said she'd been unable to find a buyer for her store and so planned to close by Dec. 31, 2011.

She said she had been trying to sell Montclair Beadworks following eight years at 43 Church Street so that she could explore new challenges.

Since 2003, the full-service bead shop has specialized in classes, parties, and make-your-own jewelry and has provided a great place to go for kids during school holidays.

"Montclair Beadworks is still open for liquidation until the end of this month," Cucci said. "I actually had a few people wanting to buy the business after they saw the article about the store closing on Patch so I decided to stay a little longer.

"It turned out it wasn't going to happen in my time frame, so I am moving ahead with closing and liquidating," she said.

Cucci said that beads, charms, and stringing material have been marked 40 percent off while handcrafted jewelry has been marked 25 percent off.

"The more you spend the more of a discount you get," she said.

Cucci said she will continue to sell her handcrafted jewelry on the shop's website even after the brick-and-mortar store is closed.

"I will also continue to do repair work and teach in the local area's 'after school programs' while pursuing other interests," she said.
