MONTCLAIR, NJ — The Montclair Inn will host its annual fundraiser, "Once Upon a Prom: An Enchanting Evening for All Ages," on Thursday, June 11, at The Loft Montclair. This special evening will bring together community members, civic leaders, nonprofit advocates, and supporters for a night of celebration, connection, and impact, all in support of affordable housing and essential services for seniors in our community.
Designed to capture the joy and nostalgia of prom night while raising critical funds for a vital local cause, the event will feature live entertainment, dancing, cocktails, light bites, fundraising activities, and opportunities for guests to connect with fellow community members committed to making a difference.
This year's event will honor five outstanding individuals and organizations whose leadership, generosity, and service have strengthened both The Montclair Inn and the broader Montclair community:
The Host Committee is chaired by Mayor Dr. Renee Baskerville, whose longstanding commitment to community wellness, housing equity, and service continues to inspire the Inn's work.
The Montclair Inn extends its heartfelt gratitude to the many businesses, organizations, and community leaders whose sponsorship and support have made this event possible. Their generosity reflects the very best of Montclair and demonstrates a shared commitment to preserving dignity, stability, and belonging for older adults in our community.
Special thanks to event sponsors and community partners, including Gikas Painting & Contracting, CareBuilders at Home, Connections Care Management, The Bravitas Group, The Law Offices of G. Martin Meyers, P.C , Regal Pharmacy, State Farm Tawanda Jackson , Roofers Local, West of Hudson Real Estate, The Whitehill Foundation, Tiffany Booker Real Estate, Sanphy Group Real Estate, and the many individuals and organizations who have contributed their time, resources, and support to help make this event possible.
For more than a century, The Montclair Inn has provided affordable housing and a supportive community for seniors, including veterans and older adults living on fixed incomes. Today, rising operating costs and increasing demand for affordable housing continue to challenge the organization's ability to meet the needs of some of Montclair's most vulnerable residents.
"Once Upon a Prom is more than a fundraiser. It's a celebration of community and a reminder that caring for our seniors is a shared responsibility," said Executive Director Joy Kay, now in her eleventh year leading the organization. "Every sponsor, donor, volunteer, and guest plays a role in helping residents live with dignity, independence, and connection. We are deeply grateful to everyone who has helped make this evening possible."
Proceeds from the event will directly support resident services, facility improvements, and programs that help seniors and veterans continue to live independently while remaining connected to the community they call home.
The event will take place on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. at The Loft Montclair, 8 Lackawanna Plaza, Montclair, NJ.
