Anderson Park Pastel Will Display In Montclair Town Hall
A local artist and a former Montclair mayor gifted a colorful pastel of Anderson Park in honor of the town's 150th anniversary (see it here)

Former Mayor Ed Remsen (2004-2008) last week presented a work of art by local artist Fernando Mariscal to the Township. Mariscal’s work – a pastel of Anderson Park – is a gift to commemorate Montclair’s 150th anniversary. It is on permanent display in Municipal Clerk’s office in town hall.
Mariscal is a member of Studio Montclair, Inc., a non-profit organization of exhibiting professional and emerging artists and others interested in the visual arts. The former mayor serves as vice president of the organization.

Mariscal studied art in his native Cusco, Peru and later at Essex Community College in NJ. He has created murals and held solo exhibitions in Cusco and New Jersey and his work featured on the cover of Montclair Townscape Magazine in 2012-2013 and 2015-2016.
Studio Montclair selected Mariscal’s work to be part of an inaugural exhibition – “A Town Called Montclair” – the organization’s initiative to provide an “incubator space” for new and emerging artists. The program eeks to mentor new and emerging artists and provide them with a space for what is often their first solo or small group show exhibit “A Town Called Montclair” exhibition ran from early May through mid July of this year.

Mariscal has received awards from the City of Newark and from Peru's Consulate in Paterson, NJ. The artist participates in collective exhibitions in New Jersey and New York.
Members of the public are encouraged to visit the municipal building to see Fernando Mariscal’s work.
