Another ‘Lewd’ Act Reported Near Carey’s Woods In Montclair: Police

MONTCLAIR, NJ — A man was seen masturbating in a wooded area in Montclair last week, which has seen previous reports of “lewd” incidents in the past, police said Tuesday.

A woman walking her dog on Llewellyn Road near Carey's Woods in Nishuane Park flagged down a patrol officer on Friday to report the latest incident, the Montclair Police Department said.

The woman said that once she realized what the man was doing, she quickly turned around and walked back to her vehicle.

She told police that the man didn’t make any motions or remarks towards her. From her vantage point, it didn’t seem that he had any clear line of sight towards the park or any other people, authorities said.

Police said the man was described as a Hispanic male in his early to mid-thirties with shoulder-length dark hair, who is between 5 feet 9 inches and 5 feet 11 inches and weighs 170 to 190 pounds. He was wearing a dark-pink baseball cap, dark-colored sweatshirt and blue sweatpants.

PREVIOUS ‘LEWD’ INCIDENTS

Patrol units canvassed the woods and surrounding area after one incident, but didn’t find the man, authorities reported.

The next day, another witness reported a similar incident. When the man saw her look at him, he hid behind a tree and she lost sight of him, police said.
