The series gives people the chance to virtually engage with contemporary artists, see their studio spaces, and learn more about their work through a Q&A session – all from the comfort of their homes.
“I’m always excited when I get the chance to visit an artist in their own space,” said assistant curator Alison Van Denend. “An artist’s studio can provide unique insight into their personality, process, and what inspires them. We’re thrilled to be able to share these glimpses inside the artist’s studio with the members and friends of MAM.”
Confirmed artists include:
- June 11 - Federico Uribe
- June 18 - Philemona Williamson
- June 25 - Tom Nussbaum
- July 2 - Virgil Ortiz and Tish Agoyo
- July 9 - Willie Cole
- July 16 to August 28 – to be announced

According to a news release:
“As proof that Studio Montclair, Inc. never sleeps, we are delighted to announce an around-the-clock, in-person viewing opportunity that still respects the need for social distancing. This “InSide Out” exhibit—featuring eight site-specific installations--will run from June 1 though August 30 in the windows of Studio Montclair Gallery, 127 Bloomfield Avenue, Montclair, NJ. The first four installations will be on display from June 1 through mid-July; the second group will provide additional creative invigoration from mid-July through August 30.”
“We are pleased to collaborate with Fresh Air Montclair Exhibits to activate the downtown area through art,” Studio Montclair Executive Director Susanna Baker said. “These installations, both exciting and thought-provoking, encourage the kind of interpersonal connection we seek during the pandemic without risk of contagion. We hope you will take the time to walk or drive by and enjoy art in the time of COVID.”
