Attempted Burglary Reported In Montclair, Resident Catches Suspect On Camera: Police

MONTCLAIR, NJ — An attempted burglary recently took place on Highland Avenue in Montclair, police say.

The Montclair Police Department released the following details about the incident, which was reported on Aug. 29:

“The resident reported that he was reviewing home security footage when he discovered an unknown male had attempted to enter his residence earlier during the overnight hours. The resident added that at 3:06 a.m., his camera captured a suspect appearing in the camera view from the backyard. The suspect then uses a flashlight and looks through the windows into the kitchen. The suspect then attempts to open the rear kitchen door which was locked. The suspect then walks north out of camera view. No entry was ever made.”

Police said the suspect had a medium build. He was wearing a mask, gloves, a gray “Nike Tech” zip-up hooded sweatshirt with the hood fully drawn, and dark pants with a white stripe going down the sides.
