UPDATE: Montclair Shelter Engulfed In Fire, Animals Safe
The Montclair community sprung into action and found temporary foster homes for the dogs and cats within hours, officials say.

Montclair, NJ - Administrators at the municipally run Montclair Animal Shelter issued a plea for emergency help on Sunday after a fire reportedly took place in the facility's back kennel.
"All animals are safe, but we need emergency housing for our animals," shelter staff wrote on Sunday afternoon. "Please come to the shelter at 77 North Willow Street if you are able to provide temporary foster. We cannot access our supplies at this time so we will need you to provide your own crate and food. We will update everyone as we can."
Shelter staff provided an update around 3 p.m., letting the community know that foster homes have been found for all animals.

"My husband has the car until late tonight, but we can foster a cat or two if anyone can transport them," one local wrote.
