The schools were evacuated because of a bomb threat, and because of an odor in a school cafeteria.

East Orange High School was evacuated around 10:15 a.m. because of a bomb threat, police confirmed to CBS2. The police and bomb squad were responding to the incident.

The school was given the all-clear after about an hour.

At 10 a.m., Linden High School was initially evacuated because of an unknown odor in the cafeteria, police told CBS2 and WUNF. No injuries have been reported.

Students at the New Jersey high school were then dismissed for the day after several workers fell ill, officials at Linden High School said to PIX11.

The cafeteria workers reported feeling sick Thursday morning while in their work area, which prompted staff and students to be taken to the athletic field shortly before 11 a.m.. Then, the remainder of classes were canceled, according to the report.
