Broken Social Scene to Perform at Montclair's Wellmont Theater
Canadian Indie Rock Band to Bring 'Hug of Thunder' Tour to Area on April 8

Montclair, NJ — Canadian indie rock veterans, Broken Social Scene, will perform at Montclair’s historic Wellmont Theater on Sunday, April 8, 2018, to support their newest album, “Hug of Thunder.”
It’s the first time back on the road following a seven-year hiatus for the Canadian musical collective. Founded in 1999 by core member, Kevin Drew, the group's sound combines elements of all of its members' respective musical projects, and is occasionally considered baroque pop. It includes grand orchestrations featuring guitars, horns, woodwinds, and violins, unusual song structures, and an experimental, and sometimes chaotic production style from David Newfeld.
"We just come and we play our guts out,” says founding band member, Kevin Drew. “We’re here to rip people open. Get them screaming. It’s a f— up time, and music is a universal language. It’s that idea of never being alone.” Including as few as six and as many as nineteen members, the group is touring in support of their latest album, "Hug of Thunder.”
