Bullet Fired Into Montclair Resident’s Vehicle, Police Say

The vehicle owner received a video of the shooting taking place, Montclair police said.

MONTCLAIR, NJ — A bullet was fired into a Montclair resident’s vehicle last week on New Street, police announced Tuesday.

According to the Montclair Police Department, the resident told officers on April 27 that an unknown person shot a bullet into his vehicle on April 25.

“[The resident] stated that his vehicle was parked on New Street at the time. He received a video of the shooting taking place. In the video, the suspect vehicle, possibly a red-colored sedan, travels south on New Street from Bloomfield Avenue with the headlights off. As the suspect's vehicle passes the victim’s vehicle, it appears that one shot is fired from the driver side of the suspect's vehicle, striking the driver side lower portion of the victim’s front windshield.”

The victim’s vehicle was unoccupied. No injuries were reported, police said.
