This introductory course offers a comprehensive overview of essential wine concepts, designed to establish or strengthen your foundational knowledge and support your ongoing appreciation of wine.
Over the 5-week course, we will review the primary grape varieties and styles of dry white, rosé, red, and sparkling wines, as well as explore viticulture fundamentals and the winemaking process. We will explore the major wine-producing countries and differences among grape varieties and wine styles. We will review how to taste and critically evaluate wine from visual assessment through aftertaste. For historical context, the course provides an overview of wine’s origins, its evolution, and the business aspects of winemaking. A solid foundation also includes guidance on appropriate tools for opening wine bottles, optimal storage, and serving temperatures to enhance your overall wine experience.
By the end of the 5-week class, you will have gained a deeper understanding of the many aspects of dry and sparkling wines so you are thoroughly conversant about wine and have tasted between 20 – 25 different wines from around the world!
THIS EVENT IS 21+ Students will be required to show a government ID to the instructor upon arriving to the first session.
