Car Burglars Hit 5 Streets In Montclair And Steal Cash, Phones: Police

Several Montclair residents reported that someone illegally entered their vehicles and stole items between midnight and 2 a.m., police said.

MONTCLAIR, NJ — Several Montclair residents reported that someone illegally entered their vehicles on the same day last week, stealing items that included cash and phones, police said Tuesday.

The Montclair Police Department released the following statement about the incidents, which took place on Oct. 26:

“In the early morning hours of October 26, there were multiple reports of entered unlocked vehicles. The reports included vehicles entered on Pleasant Avenue, Ward Place, Rosedale Avenue, Pleasant Way and Cedar Avenue. The time frame for each theft appears to be between midnight and 2 a.m. The suspects rummaged through each vehicle and took items such as cash, iPhones, chargers, charging cords, clothing and in one case, a wallet. The victim who had his wallet stolen reported unauthorized transactions on his account made in Irvington. The suspects were described as wearing all black clothing, masks, and gloves.”
