Car Thieves Break Into Montclair Home, Leave Stolen Vehicle Behind: PD
The thieves arrived in a stolen car – which they left behind at the scene, Montclair police said.

MONTCLAIR, NJ — A home in Montclair was burglarized and a vehicle stolen while its owner was out of the country, police reported Tuesday.
The Montclair Police Department released the following details about the home burglary and stolen car:
“Officers [responded to] the 300-block of Highland Avenue after receiving information that a 2019 Mercedes Benz reported stolen from Newark was tracking in the area and was stationary. Officers responded and located the vehicle parked, running and unoccupied. While on scene, Newark police contacted Montclair police and reported that a 2023 Audi SQ8 was observed in their city travelling at a high rate of speed. The vehicle registration came back to a Highland Avenue address in Montclair. Officers responded to that location and discovered the home had recently been burglarized. They contacted the homeowner, who was out of the country. The resident confirmed through surveillance that his home had been burglarized and his vehicle was stolen.”
Montclair police said that the video footage shows two young males wearing gloves walking in the rear of the property towards a window around 5 a.m. The suspects gained entry to the home through the window, possibly using a crowbar, authorities said.
