‘Carelessly Discarded’ Cigarette Lit Fire On Bloomfield Ave: Cops
A small brush fire in Essex County was caused by a "carelessly discarded" cigarette, authorities said.

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — A small brush fire in Glen Ridge earlier this month was caused by a “carelessly discarded” cigarette, authorities said.
According to the Glen Ridge Police Department, an officer and the Montclair Fire Department responded to the 700-block of Bloomfield Avenue on a report of a brush fire around 5:50 p.m. on May 10. On arrival, emergency responders found a “small brush fire.”
Montclair firefighters extinguished the conflagration, police said.

“The brush fire was determined to have been accidentally caused by an unknown person who carelessly discarded a cigarette,” Glen Ridge police said.
