Cars Stolen From Maplewood, South Amboy Seen In Montclair: Police

A gas station worker and a police officer recently had encounters with stolen vehicles in Montclair, police said.

MONTCLAIR, NJ — Two incidents involving stolen cars were reported in Montclair last week, police announced Tuesday.

According to the Montclair Police Department, the following incidents took place in the township:

August 5 (Valley Road) – “An employee of LukOil reported that a black BMW X1 refueled and failed to make payment. The vehicle was occupied by three males and fled west on Lorraine Avenue. The vehicle was determined to have been stolen from Maplewood.”

August 4 (Highland Avenue) – “An officer patrolling Highland Avenue during the overnight hours came upon a BMW X5 with no headlights idling in the roadway. Three males then ran from a driveway, entered the BMW and fled south on Highland Avenue. The BMW was stolen from South Amboy. The suspects were attempting to enter an Audi parked in a Highland Avenue driveway.”
