MONTCLAIR, NJ — The ball is in the Montclair Planning Board’s court – for now.

Earlier this week, the board began its review of the controversial redevelopment plan for Lackawanna Plaza. After the Montclair Town Council advanced the plan on Dec. 6, it started a 60-day countdown – 15 more than normal – until the planning board must return its review to the council, setting up a potential final vote.

During Monday’s meeting, the planning board discussed the height of the proposed buildings, which would be allowed to reach up to six stories under the current plan. The board also discussed the viability of the proposed supermarket space, a major component of the plan. Watch the video below.

The Montclair Planning Board’s next meeting is scheduled for Monday, Dec. 19.
