Evolution Lacrosse Academy is staffing up for Summer Camp 2014. The coaching staff once again this year will be comprised of some of the top local male and female high school/college players. Over the coming weeks, we will introduce the Evolution Lacrosse coaching staff through a series of short profiles.

Coaching Experience:
I have been coaching lacrosse for roughly 8 years. I started out volunteering my time coaching youth lacrosse in Livingston when I graduated high school. I am currently the Middle School lacrosse coach for Heritage Middle School in Livingston.
Achievements/Awards:
Livingston High School:
- 100+ goals career
- 2 time All State B division
- Gill Gibbs All Star 2006

Best moment of your lacrosse career:
One of the best lacrosse moments of my career was winning the Skyline conference championship for the first time at Montclair State University. Coming from a high school team that was not very successful, experiencing the excitement as a team once we had won the championship was a very enjoyable moment.
What is it that you love about the sport of lacrosse?
When I first started playing lacrosse, it was still a sport that was growing and was not as popular as many other sports. I started at a young age and picked the game up rather quickly. I loved that lacrosse is a fast paced game that incorporated many different skills and not a lot of people knew about it.
What draws you to coaching?
Growing up my father always coached lacrosse. I was always at the practices and games helping out and assisting where I could. As years went on, I began to be familiar with the drills and procedures and was able to help out more and more. Although my father’s players were much older than me, because of my experience I was able to answer some of their questions and help out with running the drills. Being in the field of education I enjoy seeing the look on a players face when they first master a skill or accomplish something that was difficult for them.
What would you say to a young athlete considering playing lacrosse?
Lacrosse is a fun way to stay active and meet new people. Lacrosse teaches players how to communicate on and off the field. They learn how to talk to one another. listen and work together. Players also learn responsibility and time management. They are responsible for remembering all of their equipment and also learn the responsibility of each position on the field.
When I'm not playing or coaching lacrosse, I like to...
I love being active and being outside. I am a physical education teacher and I also coach wrestling. Teaching and working with children is one of passions, but I enjoy running and playing different sports. One hobby I have is competing in distance races. Whether it’s running, teaching or coaching, I enjoy being out and about participating in different activities.Marc Zolchonock
