Huge snowflakes will soon be hanging over drivers and pedestrians on Bloomfield Avenue.
Luther Flurry, executive director of the Montclair Center Business Improvement District (BID), said Thursday that BID has never before put holiday decor over Bloomfield—so this will be a first.
"The decor is being manufactured and is expected to go up the week after Thanksgiving," he said.

The 48-by-6.5-foot decoration will hang on a cable that runs from the Hinck Building, where the Clairidge Theater is, to the former PNC bank building across the street.
At the most recent township council meeting, Doug Angoff, attorney for Dick Grabowsky, owner of the Hinck Building, expressed concern over the liability issues created by a 200-pound decoration.

But Flurry said that, as a result of Grabowsky's concerns, the decoration now was being manufactured out of aluminium so that it will weigh less than 100 pounds.
He noted that BID will be providing $1 million of liability insurance to the township, Essex County, and the owners of the buildings.
He said he hopes that the same decor will be used for decades to come in an effort to make the downtown area more festive.
Meanwhile, to mark Black Friday on November 25, more than 90 shops in downtown Montclair will be offering extended hours as well as 10 percent to 50 percent off their products.
