COVID Death Update In Montclair: Nursing Home, Town Totals

How many deaths have been linked to the coronavirus in Montclair? And how many of those took place in local nursing homes?

MONTCLAIR, NJ — Authorities released the latest coronavirus death totals for Montclair and its nursing homes on Thursday.

According to Essex County officials, the entire town of Montclair has seen 384 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 41 deaths linked to the disease, a 10.6 percent fatality rate.

According to the New Jersey Department of Health, there were 142,704 confirmed cases statewide with 9,946 deaths, a 6.9 percent fatality rate.

MONTCLAIR NURSING HOMES

According to the New Jersey Department of Health, Montclair's nursing and retirement homes have seen 93 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 33 deaths linked to the disease: a 35.4 percent fatality rate.

The totals included:

  • Horizon Manor North – 12 cases, 3 deaths
  • Horizon Manor South – 7 cases, 3 deaths
  • Gates Manor/Montclair Care Center – 34 cases, 12 deaths
  • Family of Caring at Montclair – 38 cases, 15 deaths
  • Little Nursing Home - 2 cases, zero deaths

Statewide, there were 27,153 cases of the virus at nursing homes, retirement homes and other long-term care facilities, with 5,168 deaths linked to the disease: a 19 percent fatality rate.
