Cyclist Suspected of Stealing Packages from Doorsteps Arrested

Montclair Police arrested a man after being tipped off about a theft in progress.

On Monday, Dec. 30, Montclair Police arrested a man suspected of stealing packages off of residential doorsteps.

Shortly after 2 p.m., police responded to a report of a man stealing packages off of a porch on Upper Mountain Avenue, according to TAPinto.net.

After responding to the report, police spotted a man on a bicycle who fit the description of the suspect. The man, identified as Terrell Morris, 48, of Boonton, was riding a bicycle on North Mountain Avenue near Claremont Avenue, TAP into Montclair reported. As officers approached Morris, he discarded a package.

According to TAPinto.net, Lt. David O’Dowd reported, “Morris was found in possession of packages stolen from two different homes in town. He was arrested and charged with theft and receiving stolen property.”
