DeCamp Bus Lines Is Expanding Service From North Jersey To NYC

MONTCLAIR, NJ — DeCamp Bus Lines will be expanding service from New Jersey to New York City, the Montclair-based company announced Thursday.

The additional commuter trips and routes across the Hudson River will become effective on Monday, Jan. 30. Updated schedules can be found on the DeCamp website.

The expanded services will include:

• Adding morning and evening route 33 Grove St. service
• Adding extra morning route 33 express service
• Adding evening route 33 express service

DeCamp has continued to rebound after it temporarily suspended all service during the first year of the coronavirus pandemic.

In August 2020, the company announced that it would be suspending service due to the COVID-19 crisis, which caused a steep ridership loss.

The news was a hard hit to many commuters in Essex County, who relied on DeCamp buses to get in and out of New York City. According to its website, the company was making 200 trips per day between points in northern New Jersey and the Port Authority Bus Terminal in Manhattan before the shutdown.

After suspending service for more than a year due to the pandemic, DeCamp Bus Lines resumed limited service in June 2021.

DeCamp last announced it was ramping up service and expanding routes in November 2021. Those routes included buses in the Essex County towns of Nutley, West Caldwell, Caldwell, Verona, Montclair, Bloomfield, Roseland, West Orange and Belleville.
