MONTCLAIR, NJ — A deer rescue found a dear spot in the hearts of a pair of animal control officers in Montclair last week.

The incident kicked off when township animal control officers got calls about a deer running around with a plastic pumpkin stuck on its head.

Montclair Animal Control Supervisor Michele Shiber and a fellow officer arrived at the scene and captured the deer with a net. The officers were then able to remove the plastic pumpkin prison and release the animal into the “wild.”

It isn’t the first time that Montclair animal control officers have been called on to help a deer in trouble. In 2016, Elizabeth Morgan and Ryan Urbano were called to aid a deer that got tangled in a hammock.
