A food worker who lives in Wayne was robbed, punched and beaten with a rock while returning from a delivery, Montclair police said.

MONTCLAIR, NJ — A food worker who lives in Wayne was robbed, punched in the face and beaten with a rock while returning from a delivery near Lackawanna Plaza earlier this week, authorities said.

According to the Montclair Police Department, the driver – a 65-year-old man from Wayne – returned to his car to find a side window broken. Even worse, the alleged culprit was still rummaging around inside the vehicle, authorities said.

When the intruder realized the car’s owner was back, he got out of the vehicle and punched the delivery driver in the face. He then bashed the victim “numerous times” in the head with a rock and stole his wallet, police said.
