Doctor From Montclair Agreed To Surrender Medical License
A doctor from Montclair who agreed to surrender his New Jersey medical license for taking bribes may be able to practice again.
MONTCLAIR, NJ — A doctor from Montclair who agreed to surrender his New Jersey medical license may be able to practice again, according to a record filed by the state Board of Medical Examiners.
Last month, the board ordered the license of Juan Espindola revoked, effective April 1, 2017. He will be eligible to apply for and obtain a license to practice medicine and surgery in New Jersey three years from the effective revocation date. The period of ineligibility will be tolled for any length of time that he practices in another jurisdiction.
Espindola was ordered to cease and desist all patient contact and rendering of medical care within the state in the meanwhile, the board noted. (Read their full decision)

Espindola, who lived in Montclair and practiced in Clifton, admitted taking bribes in connection with a “long-running and elaborate” test referral scheme operated by Biodiagnostic Laboratory Services (BLS) of Parsippany in 2016, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Espindola admitted that between April 2011 and June 2012, he received bribes of approximately $1,500, largely on a monthly basis, from an individual working on behalf of BLS, prosecutors said.
