Dozens Of Burglary, Theft Charges For Accused Essex County Teens

Two teens from Montclair and East Orange have been charged with more than 25 counts of burglary and theft, Verona police said.

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — Two teens from Montclair and East Orange have been charged with more than 25 counts of burglary and theft, which took place within a four-day span, Verona police recently announced.

The Verona Police Department released the following statement on Friday:

“Last evening, Lt. Condorelli, Sgt. Huber, Officer McMahon, Officer Seubert, and Dispatcher Conlon (Officers of B-Squad) reported for duty at 7 p.m. Determined to locate and apprehend active car burglars working in the area, Officer McMahon utilized an unmarked police vehicle to patrol the north side of town. At approximately 11:30 p.m., Officer McMahon observed two individuals attempting to conceal themselves behind a Jeep parked on Durrell Street. Officer McMahon exited his vehicle and ordered the individuals to get on the ground, however, they refused and fled. Officer McMahon then pursued the individuals on foot.”

“Officers from Cedar Grove, North Caldwell, and Livingston responded to assist. After a search of the area, Officer Seubert and CGPD Officer Grigolo located one suspect, a 19-year-old male from East Orange, and placed him under arrest. Lt. Condorelli and Sgt. Huber then located the second suspect, an 18-year-old male from Montclair, and placed him under arrest. Both suspects were charged with over 25 counts of burglary and theft that occurred between October 24 and October 27. After processing, both suspects were released with a court appearance in December.”

Verona police added:

“The Verona Police Department would like to acknowledge the relentless and tenacious hard work of Officer Brian McMahon, Lt. Anthony Condorelli, Sgt. Brendan Huber, Officer Aaron Seubert, and Dispatcher Gabriela Conlon. Also, a thank you to the Cedar Grove, North Caldwell, and Livingston Police Departments for their assistance.”
