A driver sped away after Montclair police officers tried to pull them over, authorities said.

MONTCLAIR, NJ — A driver sped away from Montclair police last week after officers tried to perform a traffic stop, authorities announced Tuesday.

According to the Montclair Police Department, officers were patrolling the area near Undercliff Road and Lloyd Road in the early morning hours of Jan. 25, when they came across a GMC SUV that was travelling slowly on Undercliff Road.

After checking the vehicle’s registration – which was returned “not on file” – the officers tried to pull the car over. But the driver refused to stop and fled at a high speed, authorities said.
