Early Morning Car Burglaries, Other Crimes Reported In Montclair: PD

MONTCLAIR, NJ — A wave of motor vehicle-related crimes were recently reported in Montclair, including thefts and burglaries, authorities announced Tuesday.

According to the Montclair Police Department, several car burglaries took place during the early morning hours on Aug. 4 in the area of Fairview Place and Windemere Road.

Police said that surveillance video retrieved from the area shows the same suspects entering several vehicles. Both were seen in a dark-colored SUV. Authorities said one was a man in his late teens or early twenties, and was wearing a red-hooded sweatshirt, a black mask, black sweatpants and black and red sneakers. The second person was wearing a white-hooded sweatshirt, white mask, black pants and grey shoes.

OTHER INCIDENTS

According to the Montclair Police Department, other incidents that were reported in the township include:

Aug. 3 (Harrison Avenue) - A 2020 Nissan Rouge was stolen from the driveway of the residence. It was recovered abandoned in Irvington on Aug. 6.

Aug. 3 – (Warren Place) - A Warren Place resident reported seeing three unknown men walking up his driveway and entering his parked vehicle. Officers located all three suspects in the area. A second resident told police that the same suspects also entered his vehicle. All three suspects – each a juvenile from Newark – were charged with burglary and defiant trespass, and released to their parents’ custody.

Aug. 7 (Highland Avenue) - A 2018 Audi Q7 was stolen from a driveway on Highland Avenue. It was recovered abandoned in Newark on Aug. 8.

Aug. 8 (Edgewood Wood) - A 2017 Audi Q7 was stolen from the driveway of a residence on Edgewood Road.
