Elderly Married Couple Found Dead In Fairfield, Autopsy Pending: PD

A woman, 83, and her husband, 84, were found dead in their apartment. There is no danger to the community, authorities said.

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — A married couple were found dead in their apartment in Fairfield on Friday, authorities said.

Frank Forte, 84, and Catherine Forte, 83, were found in their Fairfield apartment on Greenbrook Road at 7:05 a.m., according to a statement from the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and the Fairfield Police Department.

“A pending autopsy will determine the cause and manner of their deaths, but officials stress that there is no danger to the community,” prosecutors said.

The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and the Fairfield Police Department are investigating the deaths. Authorities said anyone with information can contact the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office tips line at 1-877-TIPS-4EC or 1-877-847-7432.

Citing unnamed sources, multiple news outlets reported that the incident involved a stabbing. A knife was recovered at the scene, an adult residential community, ABC7 New York reported.

"It's a good community," a resident told NorthJersey.com. "There's no reason for this to happen as far as I'm concerned."
