Essex County 2017 Primary Election: Who Did Dems, GOP Pick For Governor?
See early results for the 2017 Primary Election in Essex County, including local Democratic and Republican choices for N.J. governor.

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — The Essex County Clerk has posted the unofficial results from the 2017 Primary Election. In the race for New Jersey governor, the county's voters have given an early thumbs-up to Democratic candidate Phil Murphy and Republican candidate, New Jersey Assemblyman Jack Ciattarelli.
Statewide, however, New Jersey voters have reportedly sided with Murphy and Republican candidate, Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno.

In Essex County, Tuesday’s election also included candidates for the Board of Chosen Freeholders, state senators and assembly members and several mayoral and town council posts, each of whom faced off for the right to represent their political party in the upcoming general election.

- Philip MURPHY - 34,647 (56.26%)
- Jim Johnson - 17,757 (28.84%)
