Essex County Announces 2016 Road Repairs: Is Your Town On The List?
Several Essex County roadways are slated for repairs in 2016 as part of a $5.8 million resurfacing project. See the list here.

Prepare to say goodbye to a list of bumpy roads in Essex County.
County officials recently released a list of roadways scheduled to undergo repair work as part of the 2016 Essex County Roadway Resurfacing Program.
The project includes milling the old surface off the roads, repairing broken curbing, improving handicapped ramps and crosswalk areas at intersections, laying new pavement and painting striping on the new surface, officials stated.

According to county officials, Smith Sondy Asphalt Construction Co. of Wallington was awarded a competitively bid contract for $5.8 million to perform the road work. Funding is being provided with a $4.8 million grant from the NJ Department of Transportation and $1 million from the Essex County Capital Budget.

- Newark/Belleville: Franklin Avenue from Franklin Street in Newark to Joralemon Avenue in Belleville
- Nutley: Centre Street from East Passaic Avenue to Franklin Avenue and Passaic Avenue to before Union Avenue
- Bloomfield: East Passaic Avenue from Bay Avenue/Valentine Road to Milton Avenue
- Bloomfield: Hoover Avenue from Joralemon Avenue to Valentine Road
- Livingston: Walnut Street from Mount Pleasant Avenue to Eisenhower Parkway and Eisenhower Parkway to South Orange Avenue
- Livingston: West Hobart Gap Road from Walnut Street to South Livingston Avenue/John F. Kennedy Parkway
- Livingston: Passaic Avenue from South Orange Avenue to Parsonage Hill Road
- Livingston/Millburn: Passaic Avenue from Parsonage Hill Road to County Line with Morris County
- Irvington: Clinton Avenue from Springfield Avenue to Parker Avenue
- Fairfield: Horseneck Road from Plymouth Street to Fairfield Road
- West Caldwell: Clinton Road from Bloomfield Avenue to Passaic Avenue
- Caldwell/North Caldwell: Central Avenue from Bloomfield Avenue to Breenbrook Road West
“We apologize for any inconvenience the construction may cause, but the end result will improve our quality of life by making it easier and safer to travel through Essex County,” County Executive Joseph DiVincenzo Jr. stated.
