Essex County Kmarts May Survive Nationwide Closings

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — Kmart, the big-box retailer, will be closing 64 of its stores this year and laying off thousands of employees. The news comes not from the corporation, but from the employees themselves, who spoke to Business Insider about the closures.
According to its online locator, Kmart has Essex County stores in Belleville and West Orange.
Kmart, which is owned by Sears, has yet to issue an official statement on the closures. But employees of the stores confirmed that they would be closing by December.
