Family Promise of Essex County is seeking volunteers for a groundbreaking poverty relief initiative called Circles. At its heart, Circles believes that human connection is not only vital to our spirits but can profoundly transform our lives and our communities. And change is urgently needed! According to the Poverty Research Institute, close to 46% of the households in Essex County are living with deprivation from critical life necessities.
Overcoming this staggering number requires more than just financial assistance. At Circles, we focus on building a dedicated and organized community that works together. This includes local individuals, organizations, and civic leaders collaborating to share resources and provide mutual aid.

Our main objective is to empower those living in poverty. We walk alongside them as they make steps towards a more stable future. We help them create caring support systems that offer friendship, guidance, and encouragement. We also help them access life-changing opportunities such as better paying jobs, affordable education, valuable community resources, etc.
During this collaborative process, friendships are made, bonds are created, and a community is formed. A magical thing happens – a sense of belonging and purpose begins to emerge for everyone involved. This is the secret ingredient and one of the most powerful catalysts for real, lasting change.
