Essex County's Teacher Of The Year Is...

Harvey Craig is representing his home county well this month.

The U.S. Army JROTC instructor at Irvington High School has been named by the New Jersey Education Association as one of its 21 county teachers of the year for 2016-17.

“NJEA is proud to join with students, school employees, parents, and others in congratulating the 2016-17 New Jersey County Teachers of the Year,” the organization said in a statement. “They are an impressive group of educators; we applaud their achievements inside and outside the classroom and we thank them for making their careers in public education.”

Other named teachers included:

Atlantic County

Dr. Gary Jerue is a seventh-grade math teacher at Richmond Avenue School in the Atlantic City School District.

Bergen County

Ms. Argine Safari is a music teacher at Pascack Valley High School in the Pascack Valley Regional High School District.

Burlington County

Ms. Karen Dugan is a social studies teacher at Burlington City High School in the Burlington City School District.

Camden County

Mrs. Julie Wright is a first-grade teacher at Gloucester Township Elementary School in the Gloucester Township School District.

Cape May County

Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Libro is a third-grade teacher at Ocean City Primary School in the Ocean City School District.

Cumberland County

Mrs. Terry Kuhnreich is a social studies teacher at Vineland High School in the Vineland Public School District.

Essex County

SFC (Ret.) Harvey Craig is a U.S. Army JROTC instructor at Irvington High School in the Irvington School District.

Gloucester County

Ms. Jennifer Schoepflin is a fifth-grade teacher at Simmons Elementary School in the Clayton School District.

Hudson County

Mr. Alexander Kuziola is a biology teacher at Bayonne High School in the Bayonne School District.

Hunterdon County

Mrs. Suzanne Vrancken is a special education teacher at Hunterdon Central Regional High School in the Hunterdon Central Regional High School District.

Mercer County

Mr. William Leonardo is a third-grade teacher at Sayen Elementary School in the Hamilton Township School District.

Middlesex County

Mrs. Sara Dea is an eighth-grade English teacher at Highland Park Middle School in the Highland Park School District.

Monmouth County

Mrs. Sondra Lougee is a special education teacher at Raritan Valley School in the Hazlet Township School District.

Morris County

Mr. Scott Malagold is a social studies teacher at the Morris County School of Technology in the Morris County Vocational School District.

Ocean County

Ms. Jeanette Wehner is a special education teacher at Emma Havens Young Elementary School in the Brick Township School District.

Passaic County

Ms. Barbara Ziegler is a science teacher at Lakeland Regional High School in the Lakeland Regional High School District.

Salem County

Mrs. Jane Krajewski is a fourth-grade teacher at Quinton Township School in the Quinton Township School District.

Somerset County

Mr. Keith Schoch is a sixth-grade English teacher at Bedminster Township School in the Bedminster Township School District.

Sussex County

Mrs. Lori Ann Jeskey is a special education teacher at Montague Township School in the Montague Township School District.

Union County

Mrs. Monica Goncalves is a social studies teacher at Linden High School in the Linden School District.

Warren County

Ms. Kristin Baker is a gifted and talented teacher at Mansfield Township Elementary School in the Mansfield Township School District.
