CinéKids at MAM

Join MAM and the French Institute Alliance Française as MAM screens two award-winning films, L’hiver de Léon and Le printemps de Mélie. Both films are in French without subtitles. Both will be introduced in English; non-French speakers will be able to follow the story line. Screenings will be followed by a 20-minute arts workshop inspired by the films.

L’hiver de Léon, Pierre-Luc Granjon and Pascal Le Nôtre, 2007. Color. 26 min. This puppet animation film follows Léon, an eight-year-old adopted bear who thinks he’s a boy. His confusion leads him to run away from home and embark on a series of swashbuckling adventures.

Le printemps de Mélie, Pierre-Luc Granjon, 2009. Color. 27 min. The second episode in the Léon series and winner of the 2010 Alliance for Children and Television’s Grand Prize, this film follows Léon and his friends as they save the annual spring flower festival from a threat lurking in the town’s water.
